The Armstrong Group are delighted to confirm their continued sponsorship of the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry into 2025


Next weekend will see the first visit to the RGLI memorial at Le Rue Verte, France by His Excellency Lt General Richard Cripwell and the Bailiff of Guernsey Sir Richard McMahon.


Sunday 1st December is the 107th anniversary of the Battle of Le Rue Verte in which so many Guernsey men lost their lives whilst defending the allied line against very heavy counter attacks as part of the Battle of Cambrai, whilst other allied units withdrew either side of them.


Services will be held simultaneously at the RGLI memorials in Guernsey's St Paul’s (sunken) garden and at Le Rue Verte, in Masnieres, France.


ITV will cover the first official visit of the Lt Governor and the Bailiff of Guernsey who will lead the act of rememberance at the site which saw so many Guernseymen loose their lives.


The French republic will be represented by Senator Guislain Gambier, Sous Prefet Facal Douhane, Vice President Nicolas Siegler and Consillers Yannick Caremelle and Sylvie Clerc.


In Guernsey the service starts at 11 am and will be led by Senior Jurat Stephen Jones with representative of States, Education Sport & Culture, St Peter Port Parish, Student Exchange Schools together with veterans associations and standards from the RGLI, RBL Guernsey, Alderney and Sark.
