From Cyber to Risk, Continuity to Supply Chain. Once again we are able to benchmark the challenges and trends other organisations experience in keeping secure and ahead in Resilience.

The Business Continuity Institute, long known for its successful research resources has built on its annual measurement programme of getting industry experts to express their knowledge on changes and concerns over the last year and look into the foreseeable future.

A year of heightened political conflict, extreme election results, supply chain and weather impacts has seen resilience grabbing the agenda in Board rooms. How?

Big headline grabbing incidents like 'Crowd-strike' and 'Microsoft' have focused attention on the need to be flexible and adaptable, whilst resilience departments are becoming more common across industry. This year sees more focus, with shorter reporting lines into Boards, with growing regulations and goal orientated results providing authority to look across enterprises.

Surprises ? Growth concentration in cyber and security, has led to focus on reactive rapid crisis control which has far outstripping preventative measure spend. Centralised and rapid response vehicles, using 'muscle memory' tools, AI, and activities are becoming the answer to 'when' and no longer 'if'. Access to subject matter experts another key development for closing doors quickly.

Big increases in spend and a concentration on corporate cross team collaboration, operational resilience, strengthening of weaknesses in supply chain, and putting greater effort into post incident actions and remediation work have all been recorded.

What of those who are tasked with cross organisational resilience ? Well recruiters are reporting that over 70% of hiring customer want to see the top three attributes - experience, strategic thinking and deft communications - as the clear headliners in their new post holder. This is aligning the importance of resilience professionals to senior management and demonstrates Board thinking.
